Views from the places I pass through as I travel from friend to friend…
Detroit Airport, Michigan USA
The circular theme reminds me of the record industry – modern, cool…
San Francisco International Terminal
Extremely busy and crowded, but I found a sleek haven in the Virgin Club
Fiji International Airport
A very welcoming place, even in the wee hours of the morning. The airport is located in ‘Nadi’, but it’s pronounced ‘Nannndi’. This made for an interesting conversation at customs when I tried to explain where I will be.
Lovely welcome to Fiji
Republic of Korea’s Incheon International Airport
Mongolia
Kyrgyzstan
Kazakhstan
Azerbaijan
France
From Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, I was to take the TGV train to Lille. Fortunately, the train station is located within the airport, making it very easy to transition.
TGV – high speed train
to Lille, France
Belgium
Since my friends picked me up at the train station in Lille, France, and we traveled around Belgium by car, I don’t have any photographs of airports or train stations there. Cycling was the preferred means of transportation:
France
The TGV high speed train transported me from Lille into London, where I crossed the city via the Underground before taking the Great Western Railway to Taunton. All this with 80 pounds of baggage (no worries!)
Here I am at the start, in Lille’s TGV station:
Leaving France, the weather was not great:
England
Leaving my train at the picturesque London St Pancras Station… from which I took the Underground to Paddington Station.

View from the Great Western Railway en route to Taunton… weather is a bit better. I find it so peaceful to watch this scene, with the clouds moving relatively slowly compared with the ground:
Departing England via DeHavilland DHC-8 Dash from Exeter Airport:
Glasgow, Scotland
North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland
Wondering if this was the ferry I was originally going to take:

Returning to Glasgow on a smaller prop jet, which fortunately had more head room in the aisle. Note the interesting effects of the camera on propeller blades in flight:
Heading Home: Glasgow > Reykjavik > Boston
Looking out the window, enjoying views of Scotland and Iceland:
Scotland Iceland
…and finally arriving home, complete with the ‘heavy bag’ label and a beautiful sunset over Cambridge…
