World Tour Photographs: Days 17-21, Kyrgyzstan

Although I’ve been to a few hot places on this trip so far, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan was the first major city to offer plenty of tall shade trees under which you can escape the heat of the day. While this made it hard to photograph the buildings, whose facades were blocked by massive, thick foliage, I didn’t mind at all; the trees made it that much easier to enjoy a five hour walking tour of the city and all it has to offer.

Beyond the city, we ventured out to the Chuy Valley to climb Burana tower and walk amongst stone artifacts dating back to the 8th century. It was an incredible feeling being there, a true taste of history just a few hours from the big city.

You shouldn’t miss visiting the luxury ecotourism resort Supara Chunkurchak in the Tian Shan mountains, built by Tabyldy Egemberdiev. We drove several hours to get there, passing free-roaming horses and cattle along the way. Upon arrival at Supara, we could not wait to enjoy hiking the mountain trails before returning to an elegant meal with locally grown foods and crystal clear Legend water.
